Questionnaire

Dear colleagues,

The response to the capabilities survey has been substantial and we wish to thank all the respondents. But if you have not yet contributed to this initiative please do so now: the deadline has been postponed to July 31, 2011. It should not take more than 5 minutes of your time to complete the short questionnaire. Your opinion matters to us...

A rising demand for high quality evaluation has generated interest in the knowledge, skills and dispositions associated with evaluation excellence. Four-fifths of respondents to a previous survey of the EES membership wished the Society to pursue work on this topic. Following the 2010 Prague evaluation conference and consultations with the Network of Evaluation Societies in Europe (NESE) we have concluded that professionalisation initiatives should be grounded in national and local contexts and that EES should limit its role to that of a catalyst. In this spirit we are now seeking your reactions to a draft framework conceived as an awareness-raising, non-prescriptive instrument focused on professional development and capability building.

1. How should evaluation excellence be promoted?

Yes No Comments
Evaluation governance reforms (e.g. more independence)
More education opportunities, e.g. MA and PhD programs in evaluation theory and practice
More access to quality training
Sharing good practices through connectivity among evaluators, mentoring programs, improved access to quality assurance advice etc.
Harmonized guidelines
Control over entry to the profession (certification, etc.)

2. Are you satisfied that the list of capabilities below is a plausible list that should be promoted and nurtured to enhance the quality of evaluation work in the European space:

Yes Yes (with adjustments) No
