Manager’s guide to gender equality and human rights responsive evaluation

Dear colleagues,
UNIFEM (part of UN Women) is very pleased to share with you the comprehensive UNIFEM (part of UNWOMEN) evaluation manual “A manager’s guide to gender equality and human rights responsive evaluation” recently launched at http://unifem.org/evaluation_manual/
This on-line evaluation manual is part of the Evaluation Unit efforts to create guidelines and tools for UNIFEM staff and partners on how to design, manage and use evaluations. It includes references to human rights and gender considerations throughout the evaluation process and it promotes participatory and learning oriented evaluations. It contains links to all the evaluation guidelines the Evaluation Unit has developed and references to additional resources on evaluation, gender, and human rights.
The manual emerged from the collaboration between the UNIFEM Evaluation Unit and Carleton University on the “Evaluation Capacity Building Programme for UNIFEM staff and partners”. It is based on the training programme, curricula and materials delivered between 2009 and 2010 in five regions - Asia, Pacific and Arab States (Bangkok), Africa (Johannesburg), CEE/CIS (Istanbul), Latin America (Mexico), and New York HQ.
This is an interactive and “living” document that will be updated regularly to take into account the evolving needs of UN WOMEN, its partners, and developments around the world in gender and human rights responsive evaluation.
We hope that you enjoy the manual and find it useful. As it is a live platform we would greatly appreciate any UNEG colleagues feedback on how it can be improved.
With kind regards,

Belen Sanz
