Second Call Joint MFS II evaluations of development interventions: Bangladesh, Ethiopia and Uganda and International lobbying & advocacy
In September 2011, WOTRO Science for Global Development launched three calls for proposals for the Joint MFS II evaluations of development interventions. In view of the unsatisfactory results regarding the evaluation study of three of the eight country studies (Bangladesh, Ethiopia and Uganda) and the study of International lobbying and advocacy, once again NWO-WOTRO invites research teams composed of representatives from academic institutions, public interest organisations and consultancy firms to submit proposals for these evaluation studies.
MFS II is the 2011-2015 grant framework for Dutch co-financing agencies (CFA’s) directed at achieving poverty reduction and sustainable development. A total of 20 consortia of Dutch CFAs have been awarded €1.9 billion in MFS II grants by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. MFS II-funded organisations support a wide range of development activities of a large number of Southern partner organisations in over 70 countries. The MFS II framework requires that each consortium carries out independent external evaluations. The overall purpose of these joint MFS II evaluations is to account for results of MFS II-funded or -cofunded development interventions and to contribute to the improvement of future development interventions.
In the assessment procedure following the first call, no proposals were awarded for the evaluation of development interventions in Bangladesh, Ethiopia and Uganda. The call for proposals focusing on the evaluation of International lobbying and advocacy also did not yield satisfactory results. Therefore, a second call is launched for these four evaluation studies. Applications will be assessed on the quality of the proposal and the quality of the research team.
The maximum budget available is: Bangladesh, € 735,136; Ethiopia, € 1,716,010; Uganda, € 1,304,264; International lobbying and advocacy, € 810,000. The closing date for submitting proposals is 21 February 2012, 11:59 hrs.
